# Credits and billing

> How Stophy credits work: from $0.80 per 1,000 credits, 1,000 free for new accounts, a clear price per call, and failed calls cost nothing.

Stophy uses credits. You buy credits ahead of time and each successful call uses some.

## Price

| You add | Price per 1,000 credits |
| - | - |
| Less than \$100 | \$1.50 |
| \$100 or more | \$1.20 |
| \$500 or more | \$0.80 |

* New accounts start with 1,000 free credits.
* Top up at [stophy.dev](https://stophy.dev). The smallest top-up is \$10.
* Credits never expire.

## What a call costs

Most calls cost 1 credit. A few cost 2 credits, and a few charge by the number of results. Transcripts depend on the video (see below). The price of a call does not change with how many results come back, except for the five long lists. Errors and empty results cost nothing.

| Cost | Endpoints |
| - | - |
| 1 credit | Everything not listed below, including every Google Search, News, Maps, Hotels, Flights and Jobs endpoint, every Reddit, YouTube, TikTok, Indeed, Upwork, Tripadvisor, App Store and Google Play call except the long lists, and every ad library endpoint |
| 2 credits | `amazon.search`, `amazon.product`, `amazon.bestsellers`, `zillow.search`, `zillow.property`, `instagram.profile`, `linkedin.profile`, `google.aiMode`, `google.shopping` |
| 1 credit per 10 results | `google.images`, `youtube.charts`, `appstore.search`, `appstore.top`, `google.play.search` |
| From 1 credit | `instagram.transcript` and `tiktok.transcript`, see below |

The five long lists take `limit`. Send it to return fewer results and pay for fewer.

One call returns one page. To get the next page, send the `cursor` or the next `page` in a new call. Each page costs the same again. A page continues where the last one stopped, with no gaps. Find an endpoint's cost in the [API reference](/api-reference/introduction), on each source page, or in `credits` in `GET https://api.stophy.dev/v1/endpoints`.

Failed calls cost nothing. A call that Stophy refuses, for example a TikTok video over 3 minutes sent to `tiktok.transcript`, costs nothing either.

### Transcripts

`youtube.transcript` reads a video's captions and costs 1 credit.

`instagram.transcript` and `tiktok.transcript` cost 1 credit when the video has captions. When it has none, the audio is transcribed instead and the call costs 2 credits plus 1 credit for every 10 seconds of audio. Instagram audio goes up to 30 minutes, so 182 credits at most. TikTok audio goes up to 3 minutes, so 20 credits at most. Audio is rounded up to the next 10 seconds. A video without captions that is longer than the limit is refused and costs nothing.

The response has `transcribedSeconds` when the audio was transcribed, and `creditsUsed` has what the call cost.

| Video | Credits |
| - | - |
| Has captions | 1 |
| No captions, 60 seconds | 8 |
| No captions, 3 minutes | 20 |
| No captions, 30 minutes (Instagram only) | 182 |

The catalog at `GET https://api.stophy.dev/v1/endpoints` has `credits` for the lowest price and `pricing` for the terms when the price varies.

## See what a call cost

Every successful response tells you:

* `creditsUsed` in the JSON body
* the `x-credits-used` header

For your balance and history, use [`GET /v1/usage`](/api-reference/usage) and [`GET /v1/logs`](/api-reference/logs).

## Running out

When your balance is too low for a call, it answers `402` with code `insufficientCredits` and nothing is charged. The error says how many credits the call needs and how many you have. Top up and try again.
